SENATE CONSENTS TO EXTENDING ANALOG TV IN THE BORDER AREA

SENATE CONSENTS TO EXTENDING ANALOG TV IN THE BORDER AREA

A Media Network blog reports
that, "The US Senate has unanimously passed a bill to extend
analog TV broadcasting for a further four years for stations
located within 50 miles of the Mexican border.... The bill
now awaits a vote in the House of Representatives."

The blog report is true according to the Website for U.S.
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), and the area affected is
border-wide, not just for Texas alone. Barbara Boxer (D-CA)
is the chief co-sponsor of the Senate-passed legislation. Senator
Hutchison's bill is officially known as "The Digital Television
Border Fix Act of 2007." Her summary report is at the first URL
below, and the text of the bill is at the second URL.
