Three senior House members are calling on the Federal Communications Commission to lengthen the period during which it considers the sale of a valuable block of television airwaves that commercial owners will share with police officers and firefighters. Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman John Dingell, D-Mich., Telecommunications Subcommittee Chairman Edward Markey, D-Mass., and committee member Jane Harman, D-Calif., on Tuesday sent a letter to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin saying the public should have at least 45 days to comment on any rules governing the auction and another 15 days to reply to those comments. ...
