Comments regarding the federal spectrum testbed involving dynamic spectrum access (DSA) techniques and land mobile radio systems are due Dec. 30. The testing is part of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) phase one of its spectrum sharing innovation testbed pilot program to assess whether DSA devices can shares LMR spectrum.
To address potential interference to incumbent spectrum users, the testbed will include both laboratory and field measurements performed in three phases. The tests involved systems operating in the 410 420 and 470 512 MHz bands.
Six parties Adat4, Adaptrum, BAE Systems, Motorola, Shared Spectrum Co. and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University were selected to participate in the pilot program. Parties wishing the comment on the draft phase one test plan should submit comments at www.ntia.doc.gov/ntiahome/frnotices/2006/spectrumshare/comments.htm.
