PSST Addresses Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network Issues in FCC Filing
PSST 4/12/2011
The Public Safety Spectrum Taskforce filed comments with the FCC regarding critical elements required to make a nationwide public safety broadband network a reality. The PSST discussed the need for a national network governance entity (NNGE) to address agreement requirements across the partnering entities, including public, commercial, and vendors. The PSST also discussed the evolution of the LTE standard including cell phone voice and public safety's requirement for mission critical voice. Other issues included user authentication, roaming, mobility and handover, interconnectivity over a diverse ownership of network components and legacy systems, the requirements for a single network system PLMN ID (network identification ID), priority access, application management standards, coverage, capacity, security, robustness, reliability, system access eligibility, interoperability, and several other issues.
